The $50,000 Poker Players Championship played down to eight finalists late Monday night and will reconvene for the final table later today, June 1, 2010. The chip leader entering the final table is WSOP 2007 PLO Champ and Team Israel member Robert Mizrachi with 3,125,000 in chips.
However, Robert is not alone. He is joined at the final table by co-Team Israel member and younger brother Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi who has 2,175,000 in chips. The brothers are both highly-respected and accomplished poker pros who have made the Mizrachi name famous on the tournament circuit. Michael’s twin-brother Erik and wife Lily are both on hand to root for the family, which is the first to have siblings in the $50,000 Player's Championship event. (In the 41-year history of the WSOP, siblings have only made it to a final table together on two previous occasions. In 1995, Annie Duke met her brother Howard Lederer finished in the Pot-Limit Hold'em championship and in 2002, Ross Boatman and Barney Boatman finished seventh and ninth respectively in the Pot-Limit Omaha event.)
This year’s $50,000 Poker Players Championship event reached a record $5,568,000 prize pool. The winner shall receive receives $1,559,046 and the coveted diamond encrusted gold bracelet. |
