Born in Cyprus, Peter moved to Liverpool, England, in 1963 at the age of seven. Although only a pro since 2001, his poker career stretches back some thirty-five years. Playing mostly part-time in the early days, he recorded countless victories on the local circuit in the casinos of Nottingham, Derby, Coventry and Birmingham. Peter soon made his mark as a pro and came to prominence in early 2002 when he won the sixth series of Late Night Poker. His heads-up battle, beating Cai Lin, remains to this day one of the best poker shows seen on TV. Soon after, Peter became one of the first players to receive sponsorship through Paradise Poker. Although miniscule when compared to the deals of today, it was more than enough to inspire Peter to play in the USA. 2002 was about to become a year in poker that players can only dream of. It began when Peter won the first event, a $300 re-buy limit event, at the California State Championships at the Commerce Casino. His first prize winnings were $115,000. Two weeks later Peter won another Limit event when he took down a $2500 buy-in at the Bellagio for $112,000. It was then back to England and to the European Championships at the Victoria Club in London where Peter took second place for the second year running and another $100,000 payday. Back in Las Vegas a month later, Peter returned to his winning ways by taking down the main event at the Horseshoe during the Hall of Fame series. That was Peter’s sixth final during the series and another $100,000+ payday. More importantly, it was his most impressive performance to date as he overcame a 7-1 chip deficit against established pro Howard Lederer. Peter had a few more victories before 2002 came to a close at the Four Queens, which included a PLO event and another nice payday. In 2003 Peter ventured to Australia for the Aussie Millions. Finishing of 5th, 7th, 3rd, and 6th was frustrating for Peter, however, victory in the main event for close to AUS$400,000 rewarded him for his consistency and his biggest cash to date. Peter’s next best cashes of 2003 came by way of Limit events in Tunica and Las Vegas. The later, a $125 buy-in at the Orleans casino may not be his biggest payday, but beating a field of 1166 is still a record for a live Limit event. It also ensured that Peter went on to be regarded as one of the finest Limit players on the circuit. Over the next few years, Peter’s circumstances forced a dramatic change of lifestyles. The combination of having found happiness with a new wife and a series of health concerns; convinced Peter it was time to ease off from live poker, and focus on getting back to full health. His first steps in 2005 were to set up home in Vegas and to limit his traveling. With now playing mostly online and having time on his hands, Peter began to focus on his other passion of creating new games. In 2008, he partnered with Phil Hellmuth to form a games company. With over a dozen new games in the bag and now back to full fitness, 2010 could well be the year that sees Peter once again return to the poker circuit. His invitation to join the England team may just be the first step.
