Maria Ho was first introduced to the game of poker in college at home games with friends and was instantly hooked. Since then she graduated from the University of California, at San Diego with a major in Communications and a minor in Law. After graduating she decided to venture into the world as a professional poker player after building up her bankroll and her confidence from playing recreationally through the years. In 2007, Maria became the last woman standing in the World Series of Poker Championship Event, finishing in 38th place out of 6,358 people bringing home $237,865 for her efforts. With only two years on the tournament circuit under her belt, she already has five World Series of Poker cashes and two World Poker Tour cashes to her name. At the 2009 World Series, Maria just missed the final table table in the 10k Limit Hold 'em Championship Event, finishing in 11th place. Maria also keeps herself busy playing hostess and commentator for the World Series of Poker and ESPN 360. You might recognize Maria from her recent appearance on the CBS Emmy Award winning show, "The Amazing Race." In her spare time, Maria is involved with many charitable causes, donating both her time and money to such organizations as The One Step Closer Foundation, Road 2 Recovery, and the Ronald McDonald House. She also finds the time to pursue her other true passion, singing as you can find her singing with the band Another Sky around the Los Angeles area. She enjoys anything and everything that drives her competitive nature, and has always found a knack for card games.
