Christian Kruel, or just CK as this is how he's known in Brazil, was born and lives in Rio de Janeiro and is the real pioneer of Brazilian poker. Along with his friend Raul Oliveira, Kruel studied Economics and moved from backgammon to poker after watching the movie "Rounders", and both started learning the game in the boom of limit Hold'em, as this was the game of choice around the year 2000. Then, Kruel opened a poker portal and was the subject of a few magazine articles in his country, which landed him a job as a commentator for ESPN in Brazil, where he then found himself as a poker reference for all viewers and readers beginning to have an interest in poker. Today, CK is better seen playing high-stakes sit-and-goes and multi-table tournaments in Full Tilt Poker, where he plays as a red pro. His best live results include an 8th place at the WPT 2005 Caribbean Adventure and a 3rd place at the biggest Latin American event, the Conrad Poker Tour Main Event in 2008. In Brazil, he's still in the mainstream media, regularly appearing as a commentator for Poker After Dark, writing for Flop and CardPlayer Brasil magazines and participating in foruns and discussions.
